Black Art Technologies (BAT) is a specialist RF engineering company focused on the design and development of high-performance antennas, arrays and related RF systems for demanding applications across Australia.

Based in Lonsdale, Adelaide, South Australia, our experienced and passionate team brings together diverse technical expertise, perspectives and backgrounds. We believe in equal opportunities and in creating an environment where people can contribute their skills, ideas and experience.

Our work is driven by a passion for RF engineering and a practical approach to solving complex technical challenges. We work across the development process, from antenna design and engineering through to prototyping, testing and production, delivering specialised solutions built around the requirements of each application.

BAT is well established within Australia’s sovereign Defence and innovation supply chains and is listed in the Australian Defence Sales Catalogue. We are also a member of the Space Industry Association of Australia (SIAA) and a partner of the SmartSat CRC through the Aurora Cluster.

Our Story

Black Art Technologies was established in 2019 when founder and director David de Haaij spun the company off from RFShop Australia, driven by a passion for antenna and RF engineering.

The vision was to create a dedicated engineering capability focused on specialised, high-end antennas, arrays and related RF systems.

Since then, BAT has continued to build its engineering capabilities and contribute to projects across Australia’s Defence, space and communications sectors. Our journey has included involvement in high-profile initiatives such as the SmartSat CRC Resilient Emergency and Search and Rescue (SAR) Communications Project, where BAT contributed to the design of wearable and vehicular antennas. The project brought together partners including NASA and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

Today, BAT continues to grow from its Adelaide base, combining specialised RF engineering with practical development and manufacturing capability.
